Cincinnati Children’s Is a Leader in Education

Along with providing outstanding clinical care for your child, the Radiology Department at Cincinnati Children’s is committed to teaching future generations of caregivers how to be excellent physicians, technologists, and nurses. Our department has a rich history in pediatric radiology education, creating one of the first pediatric fellowship training programs for radiologists in 1958. Our current class of fellows, the 65th since the start of the program, is one of the largest in the country. At the completion of their fellowships, this group of physicians will take their skills to other centers around the country–and the world–to become leaders in pediatric imaging.

This training of pediatric radiology fellows starts after medical school with a four-year residency in general radiology. Physicians choosing to specialize in pediatric radiology will then spend at least one year in a subspecialty training program, such as our fellowship, where daily learning occurs through conferences and on-the-job training under the guidance of recognized experts in the field. We are constantly re-evaluating and fine-tuning our training program to optimize daily engagement and achieve maximum results for our fellows. In fact, one of the reasons many staff choose to work at our hospital is because of their enjoyment of teaching up-and-coming care providers.

Beyond the fellowship, our physicians are involved in teaching a variety of other medical trainees in our hospital, including pediatricians, surgeons, and radiologists who will specialize in other fields. Our staff also provides teaching beyond our hospital by publishing articles in scientific journals, writing and editing medical textbooks, and lecturing at national and international conferences. Additionally, our department has embraced evolving technologies to develop unique educational platforms that can be utilized globally. This has included the use of social media to deliver daily targeted teaching points as well as the hosting of online conferences for radiologists around the world.

Our department is committed to serving you and your family with excellent and expedient care. We are also committed to training upcoming medical staff in how to provide similar care at their future workplaces, taking our passion to help children in our region around the globe.
