Meet the Team: Dr. Allison Aguado

I’m Dr. Allison Aguado and am excited to join the interventional radiology team at Cincinnati Children’s. I earned my medical degree from Northwestern University, completed my residency in diagnostic radiology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, and then completed three subspecialty fellowships. Two were at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia–one in diagnostic pediatric radiology and another in pediatric interventional radiology. At Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, I completed a fellowship in adult interventional radiology and then stayed on as faculty for two more years. This unique combination of training has provided me with the expertise to offer minimally invasive, image-guided treatments to both children and adults with cancer.

My research interests center upon evaluating the safety and effectiveness of interventional radiology therapies for children with cancer. Examples include targeted delivery of drugs and particles directly into tumors, which is achieved by placing a catheter into the blood vessels that supply them, as well as the use of special needles that can kill tumors by heating or cooling them.

My favorite things to do outside of work are spending time with my family and our golden retriever, hiking, and exploring Cincinnati. My favorite movie is, of course, Elf.
