Research to Help Preemies
Cincinnati Children’s is playing a lead role in an unprecedented research effort in Ohio focused on preventing premature births – the leading cause of infant deaths.
The March of Dimes is investing $10 million for five years of collaborative research that will include medical experts and scientists at hospitals and universities in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland. The program will bring together scientific disciplines that haven’t been used before in the study of preterm birth.

Sharefax Raises Money for Children’s Hospital
Sharefax Credit Union, Inc. raised more than $7,800 for Cincinnati Children’s during the 2013 Marching Miles for Miracle Kids. Marching Miles is a year-long, state-wide credit union fund-raising campaign that culminates with group walks throughout Ohio.
During the past 12 months, Sharefax members and employees have contributed to Marching Miles for Miracle Kids through a number of different events.

When 19-year-old Lydia Clark was awarded the “Heart Failure is for Life Award” at Cincinnati Children’s this week, it was a symbol of her resilience and resolve to live a full life beyond her diagnosis.

Cincinnati Children’s Cuts Ribbon at New Outpatient Center
After years of planning and construction, Cincinnati Children’s new Green Township outpatient facility opens its doors to patients next week.
Hospital staff, area political officials, construction partners and township residents celebrated the completion of the building during a ribbon cutting ceremony last Friday.
“Today marks the beginning of a new era of pediatric services on the West Side,” said Michael Fisher, president and CEO of Cincinnati Children’s. “We are excited to open the doors and proud to bring this to the community.”

Price Hill Girl on National TV
Kailey Ray’s dedication to brightening the lives of girls being treated at Cincinnati Children’s has earned her national recognition.
The 9-year-old was featured on the “Steve Harvey” show April 9, where the host named her one of his “Harvey’s Heroes.”
“It’s really amazing,” Ray said. “It’s really an honor, and I’m very, very proud. It’s awesome.”
Kailey is the founder of Kai’s Love Hats, a philanthropic venture supporting her goal of donating 100 American Girl dolls to girls at the hospital.
